ACI Concrete Laboratory Technician Certification Program
Concrete Laboratory Testing
Technician - Level 1 (click here for Level 2)
As of January 1,
2008, ACI is excited to announce that newly-retooled ACI
Laboratory Testing Technician certification programs. This realignment
is the result of several years of work by ACI Committee C 620,
Laboratory Technician Certification, to reduce content overlap between
each program, reduce the number of test methods covered by each
program, place the test methods into more logical groupings, and
address the differences between referenced ASTM and AASHTO standards
in selected programs.
DEFINITION:
Concrete
Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1* is an individual who has
demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform, record,
and report the results of basic laboratory procedures for aggregates
and concrete.
*Individuals initiating the ACI Certification process prior to January
1, 2008. This program will not admit new participants beginning
January 1, 2008.
The program requires a working knowledge of these
AASHTO and/or ASTM test methods:
C617 - Capping Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
C1231 - Unbonded Caps for Concrete Cylinders
C39 - Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens
C78 -
Flexural Strength of Concrete (Using Simple Method with
Third-Point Loading)
T2 / D75 - Sampling of Aggregates
T248 / C702 - Reducing Samples of Aggregates to Testing Size
T11 / C117 - Materials Finer than 75-um (No. 200) Sieve in Mineral
Aggregates Washing
T27 / C136 - Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse Aggregate
T85 / C127 - Specific Gravity and
Absorption of Coarse Aggregate
T84 / C128 - Specific Gravity and Absorption of Fine Aggregate
T255 / C566 - Total Evaporable Moisture Content of Aggregate by
Drying
T21 / C40 - Organic Impurities in Fine Aggregates for Concrete
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1 certification
requires successful completion of ACI Concrete
Strength Testing Technician and
ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1
within two years of each other/
ACI Certification for Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician -
Level 1 is valid for a period of five years from the date of
completion of all certification requirements.
